MARIETTA, GA. — Making Marietta a better place to live and play is important to the team at Brightway, The Fitzpatrick Agency. Owner, Gary Fitzpatrick, is an avid runner and as the son of Retired Law Enforcement Officer, Robert Fitzpatrick, Gary wanted to incorporate his love for running to help the Marietta Police Department with its program to provide local youth with services through the Police Athletic League. In December 2017, Fitzpatrick and fellow Brightway Agent, Christina Rudes, joined the advisory board that hosts the League’s annual St. Patrick’s Day “Shamrock Shuffle” 5k run and assisted the organization with holding the event that raised $15,000 to benefit the non-profit organization.
“We love running, our community and kids, so becoming a part of the team who plans and executes the annual Shamrock Shuffle run is really special to us,” said Fitzpatrick. “My dad wore a uniform for 20 years at Southern Tech (Now KSU) so I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the work our local law enforcement officers do to protect us and to provide services to the community. They donate their time to our local youth, and we’re happy to do our part to support their good work.”
In addition to being an integral part of the advisory board, Fitzpatrick and Rudes raised $1,040 for the League’s athletic and after-school programs, such as track and field, cross-country running, boxing, basketball, martial art classes and more.
“Gary Fitzpatrick and Christina Rudes have big hearts and tremendous experience with race event planning, and we are extremely grateful for their leadership, passion and personal contributions to help us plan a great event to benefit the programs we offer through the Police Athletic League,” said Lt. Mike Goins from the Marietta Police Department. “Since 2007, PAL has served nearly 6,000 children through the program that promotes activities to keep local youth moving in a positive direction.”
