Jim Cincotta is a seasoned professional with over 35 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries. With expertise spanning underwriting, brokering, and strategic consulting, he has built strong industry relationships and developed deep technical knowledge.
A graduate of Northeastern University, Jim began his insurance career in 1988 as a claims representative for Aetna. This foundation led him to New York, where he joined Transatlantic Reinsurance Company, initially working in the finite reinsurance unit. He later played a key role in expanding the special risk unit, immersing himself in the Excess & Surplus lines market, where many large multi-family insurance schedules are placed.
Through hard work and perseverance, Jim advanced within the industry, holding senior positions at top-tier organizations such as EW Blanch, BMS, and Converium Reinsurance. In 1997, he embraced his entrepreneurial spirit and co-founded Professional Risk Intermediaries (PRI), a subsidiary of ARC Excess & Surplus Lines Brokers in New York. As a partner at PRI, he specialized in brokering reinsurance placements for some of the world’s largest insurance companies, focusing on challenging, hard-to-place niches. After successfully scaling PRI, Jim sold the company to Towers Perrin, using the proceeds to pursue real estate ventures.
In 2006, his passion for building niche brokerage platforms led him to establish The Cincotta Group. Soon after, he partnered with longtime colleague Jed Morash to launch Commercial Risk. In 2020, Jim transitioned leadership of Commercial Risk Solutions Insurance Agency to Jed and founded James Cincotta & Associates, where he continues to provide specialized risk services on an unbundled basis.
