The jet-setting life of a military family introduces you to culture and industry around the globe. For Montgomery’s Adrian Johnson, it’s that international exposure that has brought his latest venture back home to Alabama.
The international attorney with offices in the U.S. and abroad made the decision to launch Brightway, The Johnson Agency in Montgomery next week. The national insurance franchise opening on Carmichael Road will be one of more than 300 nationwide.
Johnson’s mother and family, both retired from military civil support and the United States Air Force, respectively, set the stage for something special here at home. For the 43-year-old insurance and legal pro, his life saw stops in such places as Germany, Panama and the Philippines. “I wanted to be a soldier when I was young,” Johnson said. “From pretending to be a solider as a young child to serving in the Alabama State ROTC while enrolled in college at Auburn, serving and protecting those in need has always had my heart.”
However, with three siblings who ended up working as a doctor, a choreographer and a sailor in the U.S. Navy, Johnson’s diverse background really provided him with a call to find another way to serve. Practicing law for more than 13 years with his firm Johnson and Associates, the military brat now has offices in New York, Miami as well as in Germany, France, Spain, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. “We have 35 people on staff through my practice. When the time is right, I plan on growing and staffing my Brightway office, as well.”
For the Alabama native who earned his driver’s license on Germany’s Autobahn, it’s full speed ahead with this brand-new business built to help serve and protect his fellow Alabamians.
Holding degrees in computer information systems (BSBA) and finance and international business (MBA) from Auburn University at Montgomery, as well as earning a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, launching this venture will help protect families throughout Greater Montgomery.
However, he also has his daughters’ futures in mind when it comes to what bringing new business to Montgomery County means to him.
“If they don’t become lawyers, they can’t run a law firm. And since this industry encourages family and legacy, I want this business to be something they carry on for our friends here at home one day.”
Born and raised in Alabama, Johnson and his two daughters currently reside in Montgomery.
