Statement from Brightway Insurance President/CEO on the Florida high court’s decision to approve emergency suspension of attorney filing frivolous lawsuits against insurance companies

“The state high court’s decision on June 9 to approve an emergency suspension of an attorney who has been exploiting Florida homeowners and insurance companies is a step in the right direction.

“Lawsuits against insurance companies, many of which are frivolous, have risen exponentially in recent years, and Assignment of Benefits cases are contributing to rising premiums for homeowners.

“We’re grateful to see the Florida Bar and court taking action against bad players who are abusing the system and contributing to rising insurance rates in our state and are hopeful this will send a strong message to others who may be trying to take advantage of consumers and businesses.”
